Donna Hutchinson
Donna Hutchinson lives on the Gulf Shore on the Northumberland Strait of Nova Scotia where she retired from teaching in 2004. With broad vistas of ocean, a variety of wildlife and a spectacular view of three provinces linked by the bridge to PEI, the magic of this landscape is captured by her passion for traditional rug hooking.
Donna is a member of Rug Hookers’ Guild of NS, Remsheg Hookers’ Guild, and The Pugwash Artist Collective, participating in various group shows and mounting a solo show. She has many hooked art mats in private collections. She designs and hooks using 95% recycled materials.
“I was never good at colouring within the lines so creating hooked images, using a variety of less common materials, fits me perfectly. My body of work has always been inspired by the sea and the people who play in or on the water.”
